Washington: The United States (US) once again carried out a round of air strikes against Iran-backed militia in Iraq and Syria. The attack is said to be retaliation to the drones attack against US forces.

According to details, Syria’s news agency (SANA) reported that one child was killed and at least three other people sustained injuries as a result of air raids.
The US military did not confirm any injury or fatality, though, the British Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (BSOHR) says at least five fighters lost their lives and many others were injured.
On Sunday, the US military released a statement that it intended to strike the operational and weapons storage facilities, two of them located in Syria and one in Iraq.
The attacks were said to be directed by the United States President, Joe Biden. This is the second time that the president has ordered attacks in retaliation. February was the last time Biden ordered bombing in Syria against a target, in response to rocket attacks in Iraq.
John Kirby, a spokesperson from Pentagon released a statement that the United States took necessary, appropriate, and deliberate action designed to limit the risk of escalation – but also to send a clear and unambiguous deterrent message.
According to Kirby, these locations were specifically targeted because “these facilities are utilized by Iran-backed militias that are engaged in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks against US personnel and facilities in Iraq”.
Kataib Hezbollah and KataibSayyid al-Shuhada were the two groups using the targeted operational and weapon facilities, Kirby further states.
The air raids near Syria’s border took the lives of four militiamen, according to what two officials of Iraqi army groups said.
Some militia groups associated with Iran, named the four militiamen of KataibSayyid al-Shuhada who lost their lives, and promised retaliation:
“We will remain the shield defending our beloved nation, and we are fully ready … to respond and take revenge’’.
