CJCSC visits Iraq, agrees to strengthen relations
Important areas of interest including security, defense cooperation, and current regional situation were discussed
Mashhad: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza met with the Prime Minister and Defense Minister of Iraq, in which important issues including defense cooperation were discussed.
According to the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) Department of the Pakistan Army, CJCSC General Sahir Shamshad is in Iraq on an official visit where he is meeting important personalities.
According to the ISPR, General Mirza also met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani, as well as the Minister of Defense, Minister of Interior, and Chief of Defense Forces.
Important areas of interest including security, defense cooperation, and the current regional situation were discussed in the meetings. The two sides reiterated their commitment to increase military cooperation between the two countries and strengthen defense ties.
The ISPR said that upon his arrival at the headquarters of the Iraqi Armed Forces, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza was presented with a guard of honor by a well-dressed military contingent.
The Iraqi leadership acknowledged the sacrifices of the Pakistani Armed Forces in the war against terrorism, and the Iraqi civil and military leadership appreciated the professionalism of the Pakistani Armed Forces, added ISPR.
