Due to the strong cold winds from Kandahar, the temperature in Quetta and the northern areas of Balochistan, including Ziarat, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, and Kalat dropped several degrees below freezing.
According to the Meteorological Department, the dry cold will increase in the northern areas of Balochistan, including Quetta, this week. The temperature will likely drop further in the next two to three days.
As the temperature dropped below freezing, standing water started freezing on the roads and streets. On the other hand, with the arrival of the severe cold, citizens were worried due to unannounced load shedding and the lack of pressure from Sui gas.
On one hand, residents of Ziarat are also complaining about the lack of Sui gas in the cold weather, on the other hand, angry citizens of Mangchar, Mastung, and Kalat blocked the Quetta-Karachi highway. In Quetta, citizens, annoyed by the lack of Sui gas, expressed their anger by blocking highways and burning tires.
