Islamabad: The inflation has witnessed a 0.26 per cent drop in June 2021 with 9.7 per cent monthly ratio and 8.9 per cent inflation ratio on annual basis, says the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (FBS).

In its latest report, the FBS says the CPI inflation General, increased by 9.7 pe rcent on year-on-year basis in June 2021 as compared to an increase of 10.9 per cent in the previous month and 8.6 per cent in June 2020.
On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 0.2 per cent in June 2021 as compared to an increase of 0.1 per cent in the previous month and an increase of 0.8 per cent in June 2020.
The prices of tomatoes, onions, vegetables and eggs witnessed upward trend in June as compared to May this year. Other food items which recorded their prices increased are wheat, ghee, meat and pulses.
However, the prices of chicken, fruits and pulse maash dropped in June.
On month-on-month basis, the prices of tomatoes increased 29 per cent, onions 15 per cent, eggs 4.37 per cent, vegetables 3.11 per cent, wheat 1.52 per cent and banaspati ghee 1.36 per cent.
In year-on-year comparison, the prices of powdered spice has recorded 90 per cent increase, eggs 44 per cent and mangoes 35 per cent. During the same period, the prices of potatoes surged 25 per cent, chicken 21 per cent, and pulse maash 20 per cent.
The prices of 20kg floor bag upped by 16 per cent and banaspati ghee 19 per cent. However prices of opnions and garlic witnessed drop in the previous fiscal year of 2020-21.
Accoridng to the PBS, Pakistan's inflation remained in double digits for second successive month due to increase in energy, food prices and stood at 10.9 per cent in May.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) jumped to 10.9 per cent in May 2021 over the same month a year ago. The 10.9 per cent inflation rate is higher than up to 9.8 per cent projection given by the Ministry of Finance in May.
