Threats to security agencies, former GB CM sentenced to 34 years in prison

Gilgit: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Gilgit sentenced former Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Khalid Khurshid to 34 years in prison.

The Gilgit ATC heard the case of threatening serious consequences against the former Chief Minister of GB.

The court sentenced the former Chief Minister to 34 years in prison upon conviction. The court also imposed a fine of Rs600,000 on Khalid Khurshid.

The court ordered the IG Police to arrest the criminal and transfer him to jail, in addition to which the criminal’s identity card was also ordered to be blocked.

It is pertinent to note that the former Chief Minister was accused of threatening security agencies with serious consequences at a rally on May 26, 2024. In addition, Khalid Khurshid was also accused of threatening the Chief Secretary and Chief Election Commissioner of GB with serious consequences.

A case was registered against him at the Gilgit City Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Notably, Khalid Khurshid remained absent from the proceedings of the case and was absconding.
