Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Army Courts of Appeal have announced the pardon of 19 criminals of the May 9, 2023 tragedy.
According to the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) Department of the Pakistan Army, the Courts of Appeal have announced the pardon of 19 criminals of the May 9, 2023 tragedy. During the execution of the sentences, 67 criminals filed mercy and pardon petitions using their legal rights.
According to the ISPR, 48 petitions were sent to the ‘Courts of Appeal’ for review for legal action. The petitions of 19 criminals were approved per the law on purely humanitarian grounds.
Those pardoned by the Court of Appeal include Muhammad Ayaz S/O Sahibzada Khan, Samiullah S/O Mir Dad Khan, Laiq Ahmed S/O Manzoor Ahmed, Amjad Ali S/O Manzoor Ahmed, Yasir Nawaz S/O Amir Nawaz Khan, Saeed Alam S/O Muazullah Khan, Saeed Alam S/O Muazullah Khan, Zahid Khan S/O M. Nabi, M. Suleman S/O Saeed Ghani Jan, and Hamza Sharif S/O M. Azam.
According to the ISPR, the Court of Appeal has also pardoned the sentences of M. S/O Zahid Nisar, Ashar Butt S/O M. Arshad Butt, M. Waqas S/O Malik M. Khalil, Sufyan Idris S/O Idris Ahmed, Munib Ahmed S/O Naveed Ahmed Butt, M. Ahmed S/O M. Nazir, M. Nawaz S/O Abdul Samad, M. Ali S/O M. Buta, M. Bilawal S/O Manzoor Hussain, and M. Ilyas S/O M. Fazal Haleem.
