Microsoft to soon end support for Windows 10 Office apps

California: Microsoft has announced that support for Microsoft Office 365 apps on Windows 10 will be discontinued very soon.

The company said in a blog post that support for Microsoft 365 apps on Windows 10 computers will be discontinued after October 14, 2025.

According to the blog post, users will have to upgrade their devices to Windows 11 to use Microsoft 365 apps.

Earlier, the company had taken similar steps for Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1.

However, this announcement does not mean that Word, Excel, or other Office apps will stop working completely on computers equipped with Windows 10 after October 14, 2025.

If we look at computers with Windows 7 or 8 operating systems, these apps are still working there, but users will not have access to important updates.

In a separate help article, the company said that when you start using the Windows 11 operating system, you will start getting access to all the features and security updates of Microsoft 365 as before.

Users who are not ready to update their operating system (it is not possible to update Windows 11 on all computers with Windows 10), will continue to have access to all the features of various apps such as Edge, Chrome, Safari, and Firefox.

The company said that since the introduction of the Windows 10 operating system, computers have changed a lot, they have become faster and more powerful than before.

In December 2024, 34 percent of Windows computers worldwide had the Windows 11 operating system, while 61 percent of devices had the Windows 10 operating system installed.
