Washington: Newly elected US President Donald Trump has taken the oath of office, becoming the 47th President of the United States.
US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath of office to President Trump.
Due to the severe cold in Washington DC, the swearing-in ceremony was held indoors after 40 years.
Many political figures from Pakistan and Pakistani Americans also attended Donald Trump's swearing-in ceremony. The foreign ministers of Japan, India, and Australia also participated in the swearing-in, and the vice president of China represented his country.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and TikTok CEO Shu Qiu were also present at the ceremony.
After taking the oath of office as US President, Trump said he would sign several executive orders today.
Trump announced that he would declare a state of emergency on the country's southern border and ban illegal entry into the country.
He said he would restore the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy and deploy troops to the southern border.
Donald Trump also announced the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico and the withdrawal of the Panama Canal from Panama.
Before the ceremony, Trump met with President Biden at the White House and attended a prayer service at a church in Washington with his wife Melania Trump.
Before the inauguration, a rally was held at the Capital One Arena to celebrate Trump's victory.
