Nominations announced for 97th Oscars

The nominations for the most prestigious Oscars in the film world have been announced.

Netflix's Spanish-language film ‘Emilia Perez’ has the most Oscar nominations with 13, while the movies ‘The Brutalist’ and ‘Wicked’ have 10 nominations each.

All three films will compete for the best film title at the Oscars.

Emilia Perez's star Carla Sofia has also been nominated for the Best Actress award. In contrast, actress Demi Moore has received an Oscar nomination for the first time in her four-decade career.

Cynthia Erivo, Mikey Madison, and Fernanda Torres are also nominated for best actress.

On the other hand, Adrien Brody, Timothy Spall, Colman Domingo, Ralph Fiennes, and Sebastian Stan are nominated in the best actor category.

It is pertinent to note that the nominations were postponed twice due to the Los Angeles wildfires. 28 people have died in the wildfires.

The 97th Oscars Awards are scheduled to be held on March 2, 2025.
