Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been declared Sargarfield Sobers Men's Cricketer of Year


Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the Sargarfield Sobers Men's Cricketer of the Year 2024.
Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, Australia's Travis Head, England's Joe Root, and Harry Brook were nominated for the ICC's Sargarfield Sobers Cricketer of the Year award.
According to the ICC, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been declared the Sargarfield Sobers Men's Cricketer of the Year 2024. He is the first Indian fast bowler to win this award.
Jasprit Bumrah performed excellently in 2024 and played a major role in helping his team win the T20 World Cup.
Bumrah was also the highest Test wicket-taker last year, taking 71 wickets in 13 Test matches in 2024.
He is the fifth Indian cricketer to win the Sir Garfield Sobers Men's Cricketer of the Year Award.
Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Virat Kohli have also won this award.
Bumrah expressed his happiness in winning the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year Award.
The fast bowler said that it was a real honor for me to receive the Sir Garfield Sobers Award. “I am grateful for such encouragement. The year 2024 was very special for me. We won the ICC Men's T20 World Cup and also performed well in other formats”.
It is pertinent to note that Jasprit Bumrah also won the 2024 ICC Test Cricketer of the Year Award.
