Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari signed the controversial Prevention of Electronic Crimes (PECA) Amendment Bill 2025 into law on Wednesday, despite strong opposition and protests from journalists.
According to a press release from the President's House, the bill was signed after being approved by both the National Assembly and the Senate.
In addition to the PECA bill, Zardari also signed the Digital Nation Pakistan Bill 2025 and the National Commission on the Status of Women (Amendment) Bill 2025.
The move came a day after the Senate passed amendments to the PECA bill, which sparked protests nationwide.
