Lahore Traffic Police implement mandatory helmet rule for all motorcycle riders and passengers, regardless of gender

Lahore: The Punjab government has introduced a 60km per hour speed limit for motorcyclists across the province, including Lahore, after approval from the provincial cabinet.
The new speed limit is now in effect, and violations will lead to fines or legal action. The move is aimed at improving road safety and reducing accidents involving motorcyclists.
In addition, the Lahore Traffic Police has implemented a mandatory helmet rule for all motorcycle riders and passengers, regardless of gender.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Athar Waheed emphasized that the initiative is crucial for preventing fatalities caused by head injuries in accidents.
Traffic officials have granted a one-week grace period for women riders to adjust to the new rule. After this period, strict action, including fines (challans), will be taken against violators.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Waheed highlighted that although buying a second helmet may seem like an extra cost, this measure is crucial for saving lives. Lahore alone has around four million motorcycles, according to officials.
