Lahore: After Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has also announced to challenge Senate open vote ordinance.

While talking to media outside Lahore’s accountability court, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said that issuance of an ordinance without having two-thirds majority is an extreme act of ignorance.
“The government is trying to put pressure on court. Imran Niazi [Prime Minister Imran Khan] wants to bring his friends in the senate but he won’t be successful,” he said.
The former planning minister said that Pakistan's constitution cannot be changed for Friends of Imran Khan.
“This government can next issue an ordinance to repeal 18th Amendment. We are hopeful that apex court will return the presidential reference,” he added.
Ahsan Iqbal further said that it has been three years but government is unable to prove any case against us.
“We fulfilled all promises we made to the nation, on the other hand Imran Niazi has caused historic inflation in Pakistan. He had promised to give 10 million jobs but there is unemployment everywhere,” he said.
On Monday, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced to challenge Senate open vote ordinance saying that PPP will challenge Elections (Amendment) ordinance 2021 on a relevant forum.
He expressed hope that Supreme Court (SC) will reject the presidential reference.
Earlier on February 06, President Dr Arif Alvi had signed Elections (Amendment) ordinance 2021 that would pave way for the organization of Senate elections through the open ballot.
