After tax concessions, charging stations will get electricity for about Rs39
Islamabad: The government has announced a 50 percent cut in electricity rates for electric vehicle charging stations.
Currently, electricity is being provided to charging stations at about Rs45 per unit which total costs at Rs71.10 per unit including taxes.
The federal government has decided to provide Rs23.57 per unit to charging stations. After the tax concessions, charging stations will get electricity for about Rs39.
The government has filed a request with NEPRA to set new rates for EV charging stations. NEPRA will hear the request on February 12.
The request states that the difference between the current rate and the new rate will be managed through cross-subsidies. All taxes and adjustments will be deducted from the new rates. This rate should be set for charging stations so that the EV target is achieved by 2030.
The petition further states that the federal government has set a target of converting 30 percent of vehicles in Pakistan to electric by 2030.
