Polio vaccination campaign will start in 36 districts of Punjab on Dec 16


Karachi: The first polio vaccination campaign of this year has started in Sindh today.
According to the Emergency Operation Center (EOC), the campaign aims to vaccinate more than 16 million children in Sindh.
The seven-day polio vaccination campaign will continue till February 9. The campaign is being run in all 30 districts of Sindh, in which more than 81,000 volunteers are participating.
The polio vaccination campaign will start in 36 districts of Punjab on December 16.
According to the spokesperson, more than 21,000 security personnel have been deployed for the security of polio volunteers.
It is pertinent to note that last year, 73 polio cases were reported in Pakistan, out of which 22 cases were from Sindh.
Anti-polio vaccination campaign in Sargodha
On the other hand, a five-day polio vaccination campaign has been launched in Sargodha.
According to CO Health Dr Saira Safdar, more than 20,000 nomadic children will also be vaccinated against polio, while a total of more than 709,000 children will be vaccinated against polio.
She said that 3,331 teams consisting of 4,522 workers have been formed for the anti-polio campaign.
According to CO Health, more than 1,100 police personnel will also accompany the polio workers to protect them.
Dr Saira Safdar has also said that the anti-polio campaign will continue until February 7.
Anti-polio campaign in Vehari
A five-day anti-polio campaign has also been started in Vehari.
Deputy Commissioner Imrana Tauqeer has said that the anti-polio campaign in Vehari will continue from February 3 to 7.
According to DC Vehari, more than 600,000 children across the district will be vaccinated against polio during the campaign.
