Justice Yahya stated that he agreed to the transfer of judges because it was done under constitution
Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi has termed the transfer of judges as a good move under the constitution.
Addressing the swearing-in ceremony of the Press Association in Islamabad, the CJP said that he wants to talk about the transfer of judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC). Islamabad is a symbol of federation.
Justice Yahya Afridi stated that he agreed to the transfer of judges because it was done under the constitution. Balochi-speaking and Sindhi-speaking judges came to power, the federation belongs to the entire country. It is a good move under Article 200, more judges should also come from other provinces.
Responding to the question regarding reservations among judges, the CJP said that he was trying and will do more. He will talk with all the judges. ‘I am the Chief Justice of Pakistan, I will also chat with the High Court judges. It will take time and everything will be fine’.
It is pertinent to note that the judges of the IHC had written a letter to the CJP expressing their reservations regarding the transfer of judges from the other High Courts to the Islamabad High Court, while the lawyers announced a protest against this move.
