(Web Desk): Pakistan has been fined 5% of their match fee for a slow over-rate in their Champions Trophy 2025 opening match against New Zealand, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Wednesday.
The penalty was imposed by match referee Andy Pycroft, from the Emirates ICC Elite Panel, after Pakistan was found to be one over short of the required target, even after allowing for time adjustments.
According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, teams are fined 5% of their match fee for each over missed.
Captain Muhammad Rizwan admitted to the offence and accepted the penalty, meaning no formal hearing was needed.
The charge was brought by on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Sharfuddoula, along with third umpire Joel Wilson and fourth umpire Alex Wharf.
