Despite hopes for weather to clear up, continuous downpour renders ground unplayable, forcing match officials to call off game

Rawalpindi: In an unexpected turn of events, the highly anticipated Champions Trophy match between Australia and South Africa was called off due to continuous rainfall in Rawalpindi.
The match, which was slated to be a crucial encounter in the tournament, faced delays throughout the day due to light rain, ultimately leading to its cancellation.
The toss for the match, originally scheduled for 1:30 PM, could not take place as the rain persisted, delaying the start time of the game, which was set for 2:00 PM. Despite hopes for the weather to clear up, the continuous downpour rendered the ground unplayable, forcing match officials to call off the game.
As a result of the cancellation, both teams were awarded one point each, keeping them tied at the top of Group B with 3 points each.
