Islamabad: Tourists were stranded due to rain and heavy snowfall in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Astore.
Rain fell in various areas of Punjab including Gujrat, Sargodha, Jhang, Dera Ghazi Khan, Kot Addo, and Chichawatni.
Clouds also fell in Shakargarh, Hafizabad, Kamalia and Vehari, causing cold weather, while it also rained in Obaro and Ghotki at night. Heavy rain also lashed various areas of Lower Dir.
On the other hand, tourists faced difficulties due to heavy snowfall in Galiyat, Neelum Valley and Lipa Valley, affecting traffic flow, while the communication system was also disrupted.
Snowfall continues in Astore for the third day and land connectivity to the upper parts is cut off, while electricity and water supply have been suspended due to snowfall that has been going on for three days.
Several upper areas of Astore have received 3-4 feet of snow, disrupting life. Road was blocked due to an avalanche at Khachak.
In addition, around 200 tourists stranded in the Lipa Valley and Kel Seri areas of Azad Kashmir due to heavy snowfall have been safely rescued. The Sharda-Taubat main highway has been closed at several places due to avalanches.
On the other hand, the Meteorological Department has predicted more rain and snowfall in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Punjab, Potohar region, Islamabad, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan today.
