CM Maryam Nawaz instructs all commissioners and deputy commissioners to launch an effective campaign against price hikes


Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered a strong crackdown on inflation across the province. She instructed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to launch an effective campaign against price hikes and ensure that official price lists are clearly displayed.
CM Maryam also called for close monitoring of the supply and demand of essential food items and measures to prevent hoarding. She directed the Punjab Chief Secretary to personally oversee the crackdown on price gouging and hoarding and to provide daily reports on food prices. The chief minister stressed the need to ensure both the quality and fair prices of food items.
The CM also ordered deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners to keep a close watch on bread and flour prices. She instructed the Food Authority to take action to ensure food quality.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that strict monitoring would be in place for the prices and supply of fruits and vegetables during Ramadan. She warned that legal action would be taken against anyone who increases the prices of fruits and vegetables during this time.
Maryam Nawaz reminded that Ramadan is a time of blessings and mercy, urging businesses to be considerate of the poor. She also mentioned that she is personally checking food prices daily and assured there will be no leniency in taking action against price hikes or hoarding during Ramadan.
