Bannu Cantt attack failed, 16 terrorists killed, five soldiers martyred: ISPR
Mosque and residential building were also destroyed

Rawalpindi: Security forces foiled a cowardly terrorist attack in the Cantt area of the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing 16 attackers, while five brave soldiers were sacrificed for the motherland during fierce clashes.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Army, on March 4, Khawarij elements attempted a cowardly terrorist attack on Bannu Cantt. The terrorists tried to breach the security of the Cantt, but Pakistan’s capable and brave security forces foiled their evil plans through immediate and decisive action.
The Pakistan Army spokesperson said that the attackers rammed two explosive-laden vehicles into the security wall. The Pakistan Army soldiers, displaying unparalleled courage and professionalism, targeted the attackers and killed 16 terrorists, including four suicide bombers.
The ISPR stated that in this fierce clash, five brave soldiers were sacrificed for the motherland. Due to suicide bombings, a part of the protective wall collapsed, which damaged the adjacent buildings.
The statement added that unfortunately, a mosque and a residential building were also destroyed, as a result of which 13 innocent civilians were martyred and 32 were injured.
According to the ISPR, the investigation of the intelligence agencies has proven that Afghan citizens were directly involved in this attack. The evidence also proves that the attack was being planned and monitored by the leaders of the Khawarij in Afghanistan.
According to the Pakistan Army spokesperson, the interim Afghan government should fulfill its responsibilities and not allow its territory to be used for terrorist activities against Pakistan. Pakistan reserves the right to take all possible measures in response to these threats from across its borders.
The ISPR statement also said that Pakistani security forces are committed to the complete eradication of terrorism. The sacrifices of our brave soldiers and innocent civilians further strengthen our unwavering resolve. We are ready to pay any price to protect our homeland.
