What began as an MPhil project in November 2022 has now become an influential initiative engaging activists, professionals, and organizations from multiple countries

In a world where the voices of women and marginalized communities often go unheard, “SpeakUp with Kamray” has emerged as a powerful force advocating for women’s rights and human dignity.
Founded by Ahsan Kamray, a renowned youth and human rights activist from Pakistan, this platform has transcended borders, evolving into an international movement that amplifies the voices of change-makers across the globe.
The Genesis of a Revolutionary Platform
What began as an MPhil project in November 2022 has now become an influential initiative engaging activists, professionals, and organizations from multiple countries. “SpeakUp with Kamray” leverages the power of digital advocacy, running impactful online campaigns and organizing physical events to bring global attention to critical issues affecting women.
Among its most notable initiatives are the 16 Days of Activism campaign and International Women’s Day celebrations. Through these campaigns, “SpeakUp with Kamray” provides a platform for people worldwide to share their messages of support for gender equality. The process is simple yet effective: participants submit their messages, names, designations, and country details via an online form. These messages are then transformed into visually engaging posters and shared across social media platforms, ensuring widespread reach and engagement.
In addition to its digital efforts, “SpeakUp with Kamray” has also organized on-ground events, including roundtable discussions and seminars. For instance, as part of the 16 Days of Activism 2024, the platform organized a roundtable discussion at the University of Management and Technology, aligning with the United Nations campaign to bring online discourse into real-world discussions.
Backed by Strong Alliances
The impact of “SpeakUp with Kamray” is evident through its collaborations with influential organizations. The Ministry of Human Rights, Government of Pakistan, Opportunity Club, Women In Struggle for Empowerment, and the University of Management and Technology are among the key supporters of this initiative. Additionally, for International Women’s Day 2025, “SpeakUp with Kamray” has gained the support of Women on Board Initiative and White Ribbon Pakistan, further solidifying its position as a leading advocacy platform.
This year’s International Women’s Day Campaign is already in full swing, with an extensive online campaign underway. To complement the digital advocacy, “SpeakUp with Kamray” will also be hosting events at the Department of Digital Media, School of Communication Studies, University of the Punjab, and the University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore. These events aim to foster in-depth discussions on gender equality and women’s empowerment, bridging the gap between online activism and on-ground impact.
Over a Decade of Advocacy
Ahsan Kamray’s unwavering commitment to social change is not new. Over the past decade, he has organized more than 600 forums, seminars, and conferences focusing on women’s rights, human rights, and youth empowerment.
A Global Movement with Local Roots
Although “SpeakUp with Kamray” originated in Pakistan, its influence extends far beyond its borders. Activists from various countries have joined the movement, making it an internationally recognized platform for advocacy and change. The 2024 16 Days of Activism campaign was a turning point, marking its official recognition as a global initiative.
What’s Next?
The journey is far from over. With the increasing participation of activists and organizations, “SpeakUp with Kamray” aims to further strengthen its on-ground presence alongside its digital campaigns. The future holds plans for international collaborations, workshops, and awareness drives to further amplify the cause.
Ahsan Kamray’s message is clear: It’s time to Speak Up. Whether online or on the ground, every voice matters in the fight for equality and justice. Join the movement and be a part of this global wave of change.
