Islamabad: The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Thursday removed the secretary Election Commission, Dr Akhtar Nazir from his post.

According to a notification, Dr Nazir has been removed on his verbal request and his services have been placed at the desposal of the Establishment Division (ED).
A retired government officer, Umer Hameed has been appointed new secretary ECP on two-year contract. He is former BS-22 officer.
