The 5th death anniversary of prominent philanthropist and humanitarian the founder of the Edhi Foundation, Abdul Sattar Edhi was observed on July,8 Thursday.

Mr Edhi was born on February 28, 1928, in Indian Gujarat before the partition of the sub-continent.
He started welfare services in Pakistan in 1951.
Edhi established the world's largest volunteer ambulance network along with shelters for homeless people, animals and orphanages across the country.
Many international and national awards, including Asian Noble, the Lenin Peace Prize and Nishan-e-Imtiaz were bestowed upon him in recognition of his services for humanity.
Edhi’s foundation has provided relief in Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Iran, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, Croatia, Indonesia and the United States.
He breathed his last on this day in 2016 at the age of 88 in Karachi.
On the 5th death anniversary, Edhi’s son Faisal Edhi said that the death of his father had impacted his welfare organization and reduced the number of donations from other countries, including Pakistan.
In an exclusive interview with a local news outlet, Faisal Edhi said that one or two years after the death of his father, the number of donations received by the Edhi Foundation from different countries has declined.
"The donations he received from Britain during his lifetime have halved since his death."
Faisal Edhi further said that he is taking some steps to strengthen the administration, if he succeeds in this, the Edhi Foundation will double the strength in the next five years.
