Dubai Police launched campaign against begging at the beginning of Ramadan,


Dubai: As part of the campaign launched against begging in Dubai at the beginning of Ramadan, 127 beggars have been arrested so far.
According to Dubai authorities, there is an increase in begging incidents in Dubai during Ramadan, as beggars try to take advantage of the generosity of the public during this holy month.
This year, Dubai Police launched a campaign against begging at the beginning of Ramadan, during which 127 beggars were arrested and 50,000 dirhams (approximately 3.8 million Pakistani rupees) were recovered from their possession during the first two weeks.
According to Dubai Police, most of the beggars have been arrested from mosques and their surroundings.
It is pertinent to note that Dubai Police arrested 384 beggars last year, and in 2023, this number was 499.
Furthermore, according to Dubai government statistics, 2,085 beggars have been arrested in the last five years.
