This transition will significantly reduce electricity bills, providing substantial savings

Islamabad: The federal government has decided to transition hospitals in Islamabad to solar energy to reduce energy costs and enhance sustainability.
The conversion will take place in phases, with PIMS Hospital and Polyclinic being switched to solar power in the first phase. NIRM and FG Hospital will follow in the second phase.
The Ministry of Health has requested solarization plans from PIMS and Polyclinic, and these plans will be included in the upcoming Public Sector Development Program (PSDP). Key areas, including the emergency departments, OPD buildings, and wards, will be powered by solar energy.
Officials have stated that this transition will significantly reduce electricity bills, providing substantial savings. PIMS and Polyclinic administrations are currently preparing their solar transition plans. This move follows several instances where the electricity supply to these hospitals was cut off due to unpaid bills, highlighting the financial pressures on these institutions.
