First match of ODI series between New Zealand and Pakistan is being played in Napier


Napier: New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 73 runs in the first match of the three-match ODI series.
Hosts New Zealand scored 344 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs, with Mark Chapman scoring 132 and Daryl Mitchell scoring 76 runs.
The first match of the ODI series between hosts New Zealand and Pakistan is being played in Napier where Pakistan cricket team captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat.
Pakistan innings
Openers Abdullah Shafiq and Usman Khan started the innings from Pakistan. However, the opening partnership failed to score more runs for the team. Usman Khan 39 and Abdullah Shafiq fell to the Kiwi bowlers for 36 runs, after which Pakistan's third wicket, captain Muhammad Rizwan, fell for 30 runs.
After the fall of three wickets, national team batsman Babar Azam batted responsibly, however, Babar was dismissed for 78 off 83 balls.
After which all the wickets of the national team fell one after another. After Babar, Tayyab Tahir came out for 1, Irfan Khan for 0, Naseem Shah for 0, Haris Rauf for 1, Akif Javed for 1 and Muhammad Ali for 0 runs, and thus the entire Pakistan team was dismissed for 44 runs and 271 off one ball.
New Zealand innings
In the first ODI against Pakistan, hosts New Zealand lost three wickets for 50 runs. Will Young scored 15, Nick Kelly scored 15, and Henry Nicholls scored 11 runs.
After losing three wickets, Daryl Mitchell and Mark Chapman batted responsibly and made a partnership of 199 runs.
During this, Mark Chapman played an innings of 132 runs, which included 13 fours and 6 sixes. While Daryl Mitchell was dismissed for 76 runs.
In addition, debutant Mohammad Abbas scored 52 runs in 26 balls, which included three sixes and three fours.
New Zealand scored 344 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
Irfan Khan took three wickets for Pakistan, Haris Rauf and Akif Javed took two wickets each, and Naseem Shah and Mohammad Ali took one wicket each.
It is pertinent to note that Akif Javed, Mohammad Ali, and Usman Khan are making their debuts for Pakistan in the first one.
Pakistan's playing XI
The Pakistan team includes Abdullah Shafiq, Usman Khan, Babar Azam, Muhammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Tayyab Tahir, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Akif Javed, and Muhammad Ali.
It should be noted that New Zealand defeated Pakistan 4-1 in the five-match T20 series.
