Chapman’s place in squad has been taken by Tim Seifert


(Web Desk): New Zealand's in-form middle-order batter Mark Chapman has been ruled out of the second ODI against Pakistan, which will take place on Wednesday at Seddon Park.
Chapman, who was named player of the match in the opening ODI after scoring a quick century, injured himself while fielding in the second innings. Scans showed he has a grade-one hamstring tear, according to New Zealand Cricket (NZC).
Chapman will travel to Auckland for rehabilitation to recover in time for the third ODI, which is set for Saturday. While he will miss the second match, Chapman’s place in the squad has been taken by Tim Seifert. Seifert earned the spot after impressive performances in the recent five-match T20I series against Pakistan, where he scored 249 runs at an average of 62.
New Zealand head coach Gary Stead expressed disappointment about Chapman’s injury but was relieved that it was not more serious. "It’s disappointing for Mark, especially after his great innings in the opening ODI in Napier," Stead said.
"We’re thankful the injury is minor and we’re hopeful he’ll be ready for the final match of the summer in Mount Maunganui."
