Pakistan's Olympic champion qualifies seventh after the preliminary round, while Yasir Sultan narrowly misses out on a place in the Glasgow final

GLASGOW -- Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem secured his place in the men's javelin throw final at the Commonwealth Games after finishing seventh in the qualifying round on Thursday.
No athlete managed to achieve the automatic qualifying standard of 84 metres during the three-attempt qualification phase. As a result, the 12 best performers advanced to the final based on the longest throws recorded.
Arshad, Pakistan's Olympic champion, registered a best throw of 78.63 metres to finish seventh overall and comfortably qualify for the final.
Fellow Pakistani Yasir Sultan, however, narrowly missed out on qualification. His best effort of 74.36 metres earned him 14th place, leaving him two positions short of the top 12 required to progress.
Among the other qualifiers, the Bahamas' Keshorn recorded a best throw of 78.60 metres, while India's Rohit Yadav and Yash Veer Singh qualified with throws of 78.37 metres and 78.36 metres respectively.
Trinidad and Tobago's Walcott also advanced with a throw of 78.26 metres, while Nigeria's Nnemdi secured the final qualifying places after registering a best effort of 75.27 metres.
The men's javelin throw final will feature the 12 highest-ranked athletes from the qualifying round competing for Commonwealth Games honours.
