According to the London Metropolitan Police, the allegations are related to incidents that occurred at different times. Russell Brand has denied the accusations, stating that all his relationships were consensual.
Foreign news agencies report that Brand has been accused of two counts of sexual assault, one count of forced sexual intercourse, and one count of sexual battery. These allegations have been made by four different women who have approached the police.
The police have stated that the investigation is ongoing, and they have appealed for any affected women or individuals with information to come forward. Sources reveal that the matter came to light in September 2023 when reports based on the allegations were published by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4's Dispatches.
According to the BBC, the alleged incidents took place between 1999 and 2005 in various areas of London and Bournemouth.
It is worth noting that 49-year-old Russell Brand will appear in court in London on May 2. Brand, who gained fame through stand-up comedy before becoming a part of TV, radio, and films, has been in the news previously due to his controversial statements and personal life.
