B A Nasir takes charge as IG Motorway Police

Islamabad (APP): B A Nasir, a senior police officer from the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), has assumed the charge of 24th Inspector General (IG) of the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP).

 

According to the spokesperson of Motorway police, BA Nasir, a Grade 22 police officer from the Police Service of Pakistan, took charge as the Inspector General of National Highways and Motorway Police. Nasir was previously serving as the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Communications.

 

B.A. Nasir has vast experience in the police department. He has served in various important positions including Additional Inspector General Establishment Punjab, Additional Inspector General Special Branch, Joint Director General Intelligence Bureau, Senior Joint Secretary Ministry of Railways, CCPO Lahore, Additional IG Logistics and Procurement Punjab, DIG Headquarters Punjab Police, DIG Establishment, DPO Sargodha and Chakwal, AIG Vigilance Punjab, AIG Development Punjab, SP Security Islamabad, and Director of Training at the National Police Academy, among others.

 

Upon his arrival at the National Highways and Motorway Police Central Police Office in Islamabad, Nasir was given a guard of honor. He was introduced to the staff and briefed on the workings of the institution. In his address, Nasir emphasized his commitment to strengthening the force and serving the public effectively. He acknowledged the reputation of the motorway police for its honesty, not just in Pakistan but globally, and reaffirmed that this core value would remain at the heart of the department’s work.

 

He said that the officers shall always extend timely and prompt assistance to the passengers travelling on the National Highways and play their due role in ensuring safety of life and property of the citizens and prevention of traffic accidents, as the National Highways and Motorway Police enjoys a prominent position among the national institutions.

 

Nasir added that training courses would be launched to enhance the performance of the officers. Through modern technology, national highways will be made more safe and crime-free. Excel load rules will be strictly enforced to control the losses due to overloading.

 

The Inspector General in his speech further said that adequate steps would also be taken for the welfare of the employees of the department. The Inspector General, while paying homage to the martyrs, paid floral tributes at the memorial and offered special prayers for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs.
