Police continue to investigate and reassure the public that they are taking the matter very seriously

(Web Desk): Police in the United Kingdom have launched an investigation into what is being treated as an Islamophobic hate crime after 85 graves were vandalized in the Muslim section of Carpenders Park Lawn Cemetery in Watford. Many of the damaged graves belonged to babies and young children.
The damage was discovered by a grieving family during a visit to the cemetery. Hertfordshire Police said the incident has deeply shocked and upset the local Muslim community. Extra patrols are now in place, and police are asking witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Inspector Will Rogers-Overy said police are working closely with community leaders to support affected families. “In the coming days, we will continue to engage with the Muslim community, who have been particularly affected by this terrible crime,” he said.
Wadi Funeralcare, which works with many Muslim families in the area, called the incident “heartbreaking” and said some graves were treated with “unspeakable disrespect.”
Although the cemetery is located in Watford, it is owned and managed by Brent Council.
Council leader Muhammed Butt strongly condemned the incident, saying, “It appears Muslim graves were deliberately targeted in an Islamophobic attack. Our thoughts are with the families. We will repair the damage and restore the cemetery once the police investigation is complete.”
Abbas Merali, a Conservative councillor from Three Rivers District Council, called the act “barbaric” and said it has caused “immense pain to grieving families and deep hurt in our community.”
Police continue to investigate and reassure the public that they are taking the matter very seriously.
