Blind Indus Dolphin found dead at Sukkur Barrage

Sukkur: A rare blind Indus dolphin was found dead at Gate No. 1 of the Sukkur Barrage. The dolphin remained trapped in the gate for several hours before being retrieved by wildlife officials.

According to reports, the endangered dolphin was discovered lifeless after being stuck for hours. The wildlife team eventually removed the carcass.

Wildlife sources say that the ongoing deaths of blind dolphins in the Indus River are due to severe water shortages in the upstream area.

Experts note that the falling water levels are not only hindering the movement of these dolphins but also affecting their access to food.

The blind Indus dolphin, one of the rarest aquatic species in the world found in the Indus River, remains under constant threat due to environmental changes and water scarcity.
