Shutdown in IOK as Kashmiris observe ‘Kashmir Martyrs Day’ today
Srinagar: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and world over are observing Kashmir Martyrs Day today to pay homage to martyrs of July 13, 1931.
According to details, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has appealed the Kashmiri people to mark the day by observing a complete shutdown in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).
A march towards the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqashband Sahib in Srinagar will also be held today where the martyrs of 13th July were buried.
In a statement, APHC spokesman said that the purpose of the shutdown and the march is to convey to the world that the Kashmiris will never accept Indian subjugation.
On 13th July 1931, the troops of Dogra Maharaja killed 22 Kashmiris outside the Central Jail in Srinagar during the court proceedings against Abdul Qadeer who was charged for propelling people to defy the Dogra Rule. Thus, 22 youth sacrificed their lives till the completion of Azaan.
AJK Prime Minister Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan has appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir State inhibiting both side of LoC and rest of the world to observe July 13 as the month of Kashmir Freedom Movement and the struggle for the completion of Pakistan through annexation of its jugular vein – the Jammu & Kashmir State.
