Edit, share, repeat: Meta drops powerful new video app
‘Edits’ is an all-in-one video production tool that allows users to create, edit, and upload both long and short videos

(Web Desk): Meta, the company that owns the social media platform Instagram, has launched a new mobile app called "Edits."
This app is available for both Android and iOS users, and its goal is to make the process of creating, editing, and sharing videos on social media easier on mobile devices.
According to Meta, Edits is an all-in-one video production tool that allows users to create, edit, and upload both long and short videos without the need for any additional apps.
Key Features:
- Video Recording:
Users can record video clips directly in the app, with a maximum duration of 10 minutes.
- Editing Tools:
Edits includes a "timeline-based editing" feature, where users can cut clips, change their order, add transitions, and apply effects. It also includes a green screen feature that allows the background of a video to be changed.
- Exporting and Sharing:
After editing, users can share videos directly to Instagram, Facebook, or other platforms without any watermarks.
- Performance Data:
After a video is published, users will be able to view engagement data within the app, such as when viewers stop watching or where the most engagement occurs.
How to Use the App:
Edits can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play Store. Users need to log in with their Instagram account, after which they can either record videos or import videos from their phone to edit.
Meta has announced that future updates will include more advanced features, such as:
- Keyframe Editing:
Frame-by-frame editing functionality will allow users to control every movement or effect in more detail.
- AI-Assisted Edits:
Artificial intelligence will assist with auto-lighting, video stabilization, and other editing tasks, making editing easier.
- Collaboration Tools:
In the future, users will be able to share video drafts so that other team members can provide feedback or contribute to the editing process.
Edits is currently completely free, with all features available without any payment. Meta has not yet clarified whether any features will be offered under a subscription or paid model in the future.
