These funds were issued in cash as educational stipends for children

Islamabad: During a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee, it was revealed that payments under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) were made to two different mothers for the same child.
The audit objection was reviewed in a session of the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee, chaired by Junaid Akbar Khan.
According to the audit briefing, 2,312 such cases were reported where payments were made to two mothers for one child, amounting to a total disbursement of Rs14 million under BISP.
The Auditor General of Pakistan informed the committee that these funds were issued in cash as educational stipends for children.
The audit report further stated that the same child's B-Form was linked to different mothers, making the fund disbursement appear suspicious and irregular in the eyes of the auditors.
The Public Accounts Committee has now directed that the matter be resolved again through the Departmental Accounts Committee (DAC).
