‘The notification about extending school holidays is fake’

(Web Desk): Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has confirmed that a notification about extended school holidays, which is spreading on social media, is fake.
In an official statement on Wednesday, Bokhari said no decision has been made to extend school closures in the province and urged people not to believe or share the false notice.
"The notification about extending school holidays is fake. No such decision has been made yet," she said. Bokhari added that any decision regarding school holidays will depend on the evolving security situation and will be taken in consultation with concerned authorities.
The fake notification caused confusion online after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz declared a state of emergency across the province on Wednesday. She had ordered all educational institutions in Punjab to remain closed for the day due to heightened security concerns.
The emergency measures followed a series of Indian missile, air, and drone strikes on the night of May 6–7, which targeted several locations in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The attacks resulted in the deaths of multiple civilians, including women and children, and damaged infrastructure such as mosques and a hydroelectric facility.
Officials have not yet announced whether schools will stay closed beyond Wednesday, saying further decisions will be based on the latest security assessments.
