Military court had sentenced one convict to life imprisonment, another to 20 years, and a third to 16 years in prison


Peshawar: A bench of the Peshawar High Court comprising Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Fazal Subhan heard appeals filed against the sentences awarded by a military court.
During the hearing, the Additional Attorney General argued that the convicts were affiliated with a banned organization and had confessed to their crimes before a magistrate.
He further stated that the military court fulfilled all legal requirements, providing the right to appeal and allowing the convicts to choose their own legal counsel.
Subsequently, the court dismissed all three appeals against the military court’s verdicts and upheld the sentences.
It is worth noting that the military court had sentenced one convict to life imprisonment, another to 20 years, and a third to 16 years in prison.
Earlier, on May 7, the Supreme Court had ruled in favor of trying civilians in military courts and restored the Army Act to its original form.
