DG ISPR says India is playing a dangerous game by promoting conflict, which could lead to disaster for both nations

Islamabad: Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has warned that any violation of the ceasefire by India will receive a “swift and assured response” from Pakistan.
In an interview with British news outlet Sky News, he cautioned that any serious conflict between the two nuclear-armed nations could lead to mutual destruction.
Tensions between India and Pakistan recently escalated after New Delhi blamed Islamabad for the Pahalgam attack. On the night of May 6-7, India carried out air strikes on Pakistani territory, which resulted in civilian casualties. In response, both countries exchanged missile fire over the following days. The situation worsened until the United States intervened and brokered a ceasefire.
On May 10, US President Donald Trump announced that India and Pakistan had agreed to a ceasefire. According to Pakistani officials, the Indian aggression killed 40 civilians—including seven women and 15 children—and injured 121 others.
In his interview, Lt Gen Chaudhry said India is playing a dangerous game by promoting conflict, which could lead to a disaster for both nations. He added that the world now recognizes the threat posed by such escalations, especially between two nuclear powers.
“Any rational actor, including the United States, understands how dangerous this situation is and what India is attempting to do,” he told Sky News.
He also spoke about India’s ongoing actions in Kashmir, accusing it of trying to turn the region into an internal matter and suppressing the local population through a strong military presence.
“Kashmir is an international issue that must be resolved in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people,” he said.
Lt Gen Chaudhry made it clear that Pakistan will respond harshly to any attempt to violate its territory, sovereignty, or integrity.
