WhatsApp working on status sharing feature
Option will allow users to decide whether any contact can share their status or not

California: WhatsApp, the world's largest messaging platform owned by Meta, is preparing to give its users more status control.
According to technology reports, WhatsApp will provide users with the option to have better control over status posts with a new forwarding toggle (button).
The option will allow users to decide whether any contact can share their status or not.
The new feature was first seen in version 2.25.16.16 of Android Beta, and is likely to be introduced globally in the coming weeks.
This feature adds an on/off switch to the status privacy settings. If the feature is switched off, the toggle will prevent your contacts from forwarding or re-sharing your status.
WhatsApp will introduce an ‘Allow Reshare’ switch within the Status settings under the Privacy menu, which, when turned off, will remove the forward icon from viewers' screens.
With the status forwarding permission, your phone number and profile details will remain hidden in the forwarded copy to protect your privacy.
On the other hand, by turning on this option, people in your contacts will be able to easily share it in their chats or status feed.
It is pertinent to note that until now, users could only control who sees their status. However, now WhatsApp statuses can be shared with specific permission.
