No more copy-paste: Chrome to autofill OTPs on Android

(Web Desk): If you prefer using websites through the Chrome browser on your Android phone instead of apps, there’s good news for you.

Google is introducing a useful and efficient new feature to Google Chrome on Android devices. Currently, when two-factor authentication (2FA) codes are received via SMS in Android apps, the device automatically detects the code and signs the user in.

However, for websites accessed via Google Chrome on Android, users usually have to either copy and paste the code or type it in manually.

According to reports, Google Chrome will now eliminate the need to copy-paste SMS codes — they will automatically be inserted into the sign-in field.

Just like the automatic detection of one-time PINs (OTPs) saves time in apps, this feature is expected to be equally beneficial for websites.

There are still many websites that don’t have their own apps, or users simply prefer not to download apps for every site they visit.

This feature is currently being tested with a limited group of users, so it is unclear when it will become available to all Android users.
