Met dept advises that children, the elderly, and women should avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during this period

(Web Desk): The Meteorological Department has issued a nationwide alert, warning that the ongoing heatwave is expected to persist for another four days.
According to the alert, from May 20 to May 24, temperatures in southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan are likely to remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal.
It further stated that upper Punjab, central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir may experience temperatures 5 degrees Celsius higher than usual.
The department has advised that children, the elderly, and women should avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during this period and take precautionary measures if they must go outside.
It also recommended avoiding direct sunlight during the daytime and drinking plenty of water. Farmers have been advised to manage their agricultural activities and livestock care based on the updated weather conditions.
It is worth noting that on May 15, the Meteorological Department had already warned that temperatures across most parts of the country would rise significantly above normal and that this situation could last for three to four days.
The earlier advisory had predicted that daytime temperatures in Sindh, southern Punjab, Balochistan, and other southern regions could be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal.
