(Web Desk): In Naushahro Feroze, tensions escalated during a sit-in protest at Moro bypass against controversial canals, resulting in violent clashes between police and demonstrators. Gunfire was exchanged from both sides, leaving four people injured, including a police officer.
The situation turned more serious when angry protesters set fire to the house of Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, causing extensive damage.
The minister stated, “An impartial investigation is underway. No one will be allowed to create unrest under the guise of peaceful protest.”
According to details, the protest, originally organized to oppose canal construction, spiraled out of control as confrontations between protesters and law enforcement intensified. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, while sporadic gunfire continued in the area, spreading fear among local residents.
In response to the violence, all shops and markets were shut down as a precautionary measure. Minister Lanjar confirmed that action will be taken in accordance with the law, adding, “My house was set on fire and some people have been injured. The culprits will be brought to justice.”
