Storms sweep Punjab, KP: 6 dead, roads blocked, power disrupted

(Web Desk): Stormy rains in various areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have resulted in multiple incidents, leaving six people dead.

In Rawalpindi and Islamabad, strong winds and storms uprooted trees and toppled electricity poles at several locations. Peshawar also experienced heavy winds and rain, causing trees to be uprooted and damage to solar panels and vehicles. In Attock, thunder and lightning accompanied by rain were recorded, while in Muzaffarabad, a cloudburst claimed the lives of three people and damaged several houses and a mosque.

Landslides led to the closure of Neelum Highway at eight different points. In Diamer, intermittent snowfall continues on Babusar Top. Rain and landslides in Chilas have blocked the Karakoram Highway at points in Diamer and Lower Kohistan.

Hailstorms and rains in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caused flooding in streams and ravines. In KP, three people died and seven were injured in different incidents.

Meanwhile, several areas of Punjab also experienced dust storms and rainfall. In Multan, strong winds caused poles to fall on Railway Road, disrupting electricity supply in many areas. In Old Shujaabad Road, a house wall collapsed due to strong winds, resulting in the death of a 10-year-old girl.
