Gmail introduces AI-powered auto summaries for long email threads
Feature is being rolled out in the Gmail app for iOS and Android devices

(Web Desk): Google has introduced a useful new feature in its popular service, Gmail.
Now, summary cards for long email threads will be automatically generated and displayed for users.
This feature is being rolled out in the Gmail app for iOS and Android devices.
Earlier in 2024, Google had introduced AI-powered summarization features in Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, and Gmail, using the Gemini side panel.
Previously, users had to manually click the “Summarize this email” option located above the email.
Now, this option is being replaced with an auto-generated summary that appears at the top of long email threads.
Google’s AI assistant will extract key points from multiple messages in lengthy threads to form a summary. If new messages are added to the thread, the summary will continue to update.
This feature will be available to Gmail users on Google Workspace. However, it is unclear if it will also roll out to non-Workspace accounts or the desktop Gmail web version.
That said, on desktop, the “Summarize this email” option will still be available above emails.
