Individuals had come to UAE on visit visas from Arab countries

Dubai: The UAE Police carried out a major operation against an organized begging gang and arrested 41 people who were staying in a hotel and were involved in begging activities.
During the operation, the police recovered more than 60,000 dirhams, which is approximately PKR4.6 million.
According to the police, these individuals had come to the UAE on visit visas from Arab countries and were begging by selling prayer beads and other religious items in different areas of Dubai.
An undercover operation called ‘Al-Masbah’ was carried out by the Suspects and Criminal Phenomena Department of the General Department of Criminal Investigation.
The operation began when the police received a tip-off through the 901 call center that some individuals were begging by selling prayer beads and other items to the public.
The police immediately began surveillance and arrested three Arab men on the spot. During the investigation, these men admitted that they were part of an organized beggar gang.
