Islamabad: Pakistan has received 1.24 million more doses of AstraZeneca vaccine under the Covax programme.

According to details, a consignment containing 1.24 million AstraZeneca jabs reached Islamabad this morning.
On May 08, Pakistan had received the first batch of the British vaccine and since then the country has received three consignments of Covid vaccines under the Covax programme.
Earlier, 1.62m doses of Pfizer vaccine and 2.5m doses of Moderna were received by Pakistan.
Pakistan has reported a sharp increase in Covid-19 cases and deaths amid concerns of fourth wave of coronavirus owing to Delta variant.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 2,783 cases of coronavirus were reported while 39 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 22,760.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 986,668.
As many as 918,329 patients have recovered from the disease with 2,508 critical cases.
