Govt appealed people to ensure minimum use of plastic and adopt clean environment


Karachi: The Chief Minister of Sindh has announced that a complete ban on plastic shopping bags will be imposed in the province from June 15.
In his message on the occasion of World Environment Day, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that this day is being celebrated all over the world under the title of eliminating plastic pollution.
He stated that we have to play a collective role to protect our environment from plastic pollution. The Chief Minister of Sindh appealed to the people to ensure minimum use of plastic and adopt a clean environment.
The Chief Minister added that the Sindh government has launched a plastic cleaning campaign across the province, and strict implementation of plastic laws is being ensured. A plastic-free Sindh is our dream, which we all have to make a reality together. The Sindh government is encouraging the use of eco-friendly cloth and paper bags and a complete ban on plastic shopping bags will be imposed from June 15, 2025.
He further said that the Sindh government is engaged in the process of plantation, cultivation of date palms, promotion of the recycling industry, and cleaning of rivers and canals. The Sindh government is actively working with educational and social institutions to raise environmental awareness.
