Man dies in Police custody; CPO Gujranwala takes notice
Gujranwala: Gujranwala City Police Officer (CPO) Sarfraz Ahmed Falki has taken notice of an incident in which a suspect was killed in Police custody.
CPO while taking notice of the incident suspended the Wando station house officer (SHO) Shabbir Gul for his sheer negligence and carelessness.
According to details, a murder case has also been registered at Wando police station against 6 accused police officers including an outpost in charge.
While outpost in-charge Jan Mohammad was arrested by the police on the orders of the City Police Officer.
Further, an inquiry committee headed by the Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar Abdul Wahab has been set up which will compile its final report and submit it to the Gujranwala CPO.
Gujranwala Police Chief said that action will be taken after the post-mortem and inquiry committee report.
The death of the accused in police custody will not be tolerated under any circumstances, added Sarfraz Ahmed Falki.
