Kabul: Afghanistan on Sunday night has called back its Ambassador and senior diplomats from Pakistan.

A statement issued by the Aghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “Following the abduction of the Afghan Ambassador’s daughter in Pakistan, the Leadership of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan called back Afghanistan’s Ambassador and senior diplomats from Pakistan until all security threats are addressed including the arrest and trial of the perpetrators of abduction.”
Further, an Afghan delegation will visit Pakistan soon to assess and follow up on the case and all related issues; subsequent actions will follow based on the findings.
Pakistan Foreign Office Saturday said the daughter of Afghanistan Ambassador to Pakistan Najibullah Alikhil was "assaulted" and "man-handled" by unidentified people in Islamabad on Friday.
The Islamabad police have begun investigations into the incident.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant security authorities are closely in contact with the Ambassador and his family and extending full support in the matter," the FO said in a statement.
It said the security of the ambassador and his family had been beefed up, adding that law enforcement agencies were "trying to trace and apprehend the culprits to be brought to justice".
"It is reiterated that the safety and security of the diplomatic missions, as well as the diplomats and their families, is of utmost importance. Such incidents can and will not be tolerated."
